Measure Under the Sink Before Choosing an Organizer

The empty space around pipes is the measurement that matters.

Map the fixed obstacles

Record the cabinet opening and interior width, depth and height. Include the drain, valves, disposal, hinges and any other fixed parts. Check the route needed to place an assembled organizer inside the cabinet.

Leave room for movement

A pull-out basket needs usable travel space. Compare the organizer’s assembled footprint and drawer clearance with the opening. The overall cabinet dimensions may be larger than the usable space behind its doors.

Check the selected configuration

Two tiers can mean different shelf spacing, basket depths and frame layouts. Look for model-specific measurements and installation information. Do not transfer a load rating or dimensions from a similar-looking organizer.

Plan what goes where

Measure the containers you intend to store and follow their storage labels. Keep access to valves and other service points. Follow the organizer’s assembly and load instructions; a tidy appearance does not establish that a shelf can support a particular load.
